St. Petersburg, FL (Sports Network) - James Shields tossed a seven-hitter and Brendan Harris' homer in the sixth put Tampa Bay ahead for good, as the Devil Rays downed the Detroit Tigers, 5-3, in the rubber match of a three-game set at Tropicana Field.Shields (4-0) allowed three runs with a walk and four strikeouts in the second complete game of his career.
Elijah Dukes also homered for the Rays, who have won three of four. Akinori Iwamura finished 3-for-4 and scored a run, while B.J. Upton ended 2-for-4 with an RBI and scored a run in the win.
Marcus Thames finished 2-for-4 with an RBI for Detroit, which has lost five of six. Gary Sheffield went 2-for-4 and scored a run for the Tigers, who won Tuesday's game 14-2.
Nate Robertson (4-5) allowed four runs on nine hits with three walks and three strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings.
With the score knotted at three, Tampa Bay got the eventual winning runs in the sixth. Harris belted a solo shot to right-center field on a 1-0 pitch. Dukes then walked, and scored on Upton's double.
