Hamburg, Germany (Sports Network) - Tenth-seeded Czech Tomas Berdych and 11- seeded Frenchman Richard Gasquet were among Monday's first-round winners at the Masters Series Hamburg tennis event.Berdych got past Spaniard Fernando Verdasco 7-6 (8-6), 6-4, while Gasquet, a runner-up in Estoril two weeks ago, grounded 2004 French Open champion Gaston Gaudio of Argentina 6-1, 6-4 on the red clay at Rothenbaum. Gasquet was the 2005 Hamburg runner-up to Swiss superstar Roger Federer.
