Horse Racing: Belmont decision for Derby winner Street Sense due Thursday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- Kentucky Derby winner Street Sense put together a solid workout Wednesday at Churchill Downs, and a decision whether the colt will run in the Belmont Stakes was expected Thursday.
Street Sense breezed four furlongs in 49 seconds, his first work since finishing second by a head to Curlin in the Preakness on May 19.
"There's something about this horse, he's a fast horse," trainer Carl Nafzger said. "I don't necessarily say that's an asset or not, but he worked 49 seconds this morning and never did drop his head."
Nafzger and owner James Tafel have been waiting to gauge Street Sense's health before deciding whether to run him in the 1 1/2 -mile Belmont, the longest and most grueling of the Triple Crown races.
Tafel has said the horse may not run in the Belmont on June 9 if it conflicts with his summer racing schedule.
