MLB: Mariners sweep Royals

Kansas City, MO (Sports Network) - Jarrod Washburn pitched seven-plus innings and Jose Vidro and Raul Ibanez each knocked in two runs as Seattle held off Kansas City, 7-4, to complete a three-game sweep.
Washburn (5-4) gave up three runs on four hits with four strikeouts and a walk for the Mariners, who have won five of six.
Ryan Shealy went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored for the Royals, who have lost four in a row overall.
Odalis Perez (2-5) was tagged for six runs on nine hits in 5 2/3 innings to suffer the loss.
Trailing 7-3, Mark Grudzielanek and Mark Teahen started the ninth with back- to-back singles off Seattle reliever Sean Green and the Mariners promptly turned to closer J.J. Putz.
Emil Brown hit a potential double-play groundball, but after getting the force out at second, Jose Lopez's throw to first sailed wide and Grudzielanek came around to score.
