NHL: Blackhawks sign top pick Toews
Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - The Chicago Blackhawks signed their first round pick in the 2006 draft, center Jonathan Toews, to a three-year entry level contract on Wednesday.
Toews, 19, was the third overall pick in the draft and recently helped Canada capture the Gold Medal at the Hockey World Championships in Moscow. He posted two goals and five assists in nine games during the tournament.
