Stuttgart claims Bundesliga title with comeback win

Stuttgart, Germany (Sports Network) - Stuttgart lifted the Bundesliga title for the fifth time in its history on Saturday at Gottlieb Daimler Stadion after recording a 2-1 win against Energie on the final day of the season.

It is the first league crown in 15 years for Stuttgart, but it did not come easily.

Needing a win on Saturday to secure the title, Armin Veh's men fell behind 1-0 in the opening 19 minutes, but got goals from Thomas Hitzlsperger and Sami Khedira to secure the win and raise the league trophy on home soil.

It looked for the past month like Schalke had the inside track on the title, but they hit a few bumps in the road along their way to the finish line, and Stuttgart closed out the season by winning its last eight games to sneak in late and steal it.
