WNBA: Sun hold off Mercury
Uncasville, CT (Sports Network) - Asjha Jones scored 24 points and grabbed seven rebounds as the Connecticut Sun held off the Phoenix Mercury, 76-67, at Mohegan Sun Arena.
Katie Douglas and Nykesha Sales each scored 18 points, while Douglas had a team-high nine rebounds and five assists for the Sun, who held Phoenix to 36.2 percent shooting and won the rebounding battle, 47-38.
Tangela Smith, acquired in an offseason trade with Minnesota, scored 18 points and Cappie Pondexter contributed 14 for the Mercury, who were looking to match their best start in nine years.
