Baseball: Pierzynski powers White Sox past Cubs


Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - A.J. Pierzynski belted a grand slam as the Chicago White Sox bested the Chicago Cubs, 10-6, in the finale of a three-game set at Wrigley Field.
It was the sixth career grand slam for the White Sox's catcher who finished 2- for-5 in the game.
Jermaine Dye also homered for the White Sox, who avoided a sweep with the win. Rob Mackowiak and Juan Uribe had two RBI apiece for the ChiSox.
Nick Masset (2-1) allowed two runs on three hits in 5 2/3 innings in his first major league start to earn the win for the ChiSox.
Aramis Ramirez had a three-run home run for the Cubs, who have lost three of five games. Daryle Ward and Jacque Jones had an RBI each.
Carlos Zambrano (4-4) was touched for seven runs on seven hits in 6 2/3 innings en route to the loss.
The Cubs grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the first. Angel Pagan walked on four pitches and swiped second before coming around on Ward's RBI single.
