Champions PGA: Bryant needs playoff to repeat as Regions Charity winner
Hoover, AL (Sports Network) - Brad Bryant and R.W. Eaks both closed with seven-under 65s Sunday to force a playoff at the Regions Charity Classic at Ross Bridge Golf Resort & Spa.
That duo finished regulation tied at 12-under-par 204.
Bryant, who won here last year, and Eaks both parred the first two extra holes. Back at the 18th for a third time in the playoff, Bryant converted a birdie try to successfully defend his title and win for the third time on the Champions Tour.
Tom Kite (66) and Denis Watson (67) shared third place one stroke back at minus-11. Scott Hoch, who held at least a piece of the lead after rounds one and two, closed with a two-under 70 to end alone in fifth at 10-under-par 206.
Bob Gilder, who shared the second-round lead with Hoch, stumbled to a one-over 73 in the final round. That dropped him into a share of sixth at minus-nine. He was joined there by Ben Crenshaw, Hale Irwin, Hajime Meshiai, Rod Spittle and Fuzzy Zoeller.
