MLB: Another solid week in the cards for Royals?

(Sports Network) - It looks as though the Kansas City Royals are not quite ready to pack it in, after all.

Not with an assortment of promising young players still getting their feet wet in the majors. And certainly not after the team picked up wins in six of its last eight games.

What makes the team's recent run even more impressive is that they've been getting it done on the road against some quality teams. In fact, Kansas City just wrapped up a 10-game road trip with a 6-4 record after swinging from Chicago to Oakland to Colorado without a day's rest. But now the Royals can put the travel bags away for the remainder of the month, as they remain home for a nine-game stand at Kauffman Stadium following a much needed off-day Monday.

The team has responded well from last Saturday's ninth-inning loss to the Chicago White Sox, and the Royals have now won back-to-back series for the first time this season.

"That's saying something about our guys," manager Buddy Bell told the team's official Web site after Sunday's win. "I am really proud of them. Since that loss to Chicago, we have played pretty good."

Sunday's 10-5 win over the Rockies lasted four-and-a-half hours, as Kansas City erupted for five runs in the 12th inning. Monday's off day could not have come at a better time, with Bell having emptied his entire bench and bullpen to secure the win.
