MLB: Griffey his 572nd career homer

CINCINNATI (AP) -- Ken Griffey Jr. hit his 572nd homer Monday night, a solo shot off Washington's Levale Speigner that moved him directly behind Harmon Killebrew on the career list.
The 37-year-old outfielder will tie Killebrew for eighth place with his next homer. The solo shot also left him with 1,635 RBIs, one behind Ernie Banks for 19th on the career list.
Griffey pulled a 2-1 pitch into the Nationals' bullpen down the right-field line in the third inning. Since he returned to his accustomed spot at third in the batting order on May 3, Griffey has hit seven of his nine homers.
Speigner, a rookie right-hander, was the 364th pitcher to allow a homer by Griffey. Speigner started the season in the bullpen and was making his second career start.
