MLB: Matsui returns for Rockies
Denver, CO (Sports Network) - The Colorado Rockies activated infielder Kaz Matsui from the 15-day disabled list Monday. Matsui, who has sat since April 15 due to back spasms, will be in uniform in Phoenix tonight as the Rockies take on the Diamondbacks.
Acquired in a trade from the Mets last June, Matsui was off to a big start offensively with a .361 average and five stolen bases in nine games this year. The five-year veteran is a career .269 hitter.
The Rockies optioned infielder Omar Quintanilla to Triple-A Colorado Springs to clear space for Matsui.
