MLB: Mets' Mota returns from steroid suspension

Flushing, NY (Sports Network) - New York Mets relief pitcher Guillermo Mota was activated from the restricted list Wednesday after serving a 50-game suspension for violating Major League Baseball's drug policy.
To make room for Mota, who went 0-1 with a 7.04 ERA in seven games with Triple-A New Orleans, the Mets optioned relief pitcher Ambiorix Burgos to New Orleans. Mota learned of his suspension in the off-season and was forced to start serving it once the 2007 campaign began.
New York went a National League-best 33-17 over its first 50 contests.
Mota was acquired from Cleveland in an August trade and finished the season in New York, posting a 4-3 record with a 4.53 earned run average while appearing in a combined 52 games for the Indians and Mets.
With the Mets, he was 3-0 with a 1.00 ERA in 18 games. In the National League playoffs, he registered a 1-0 mark with a 5.40 ERA in seven games.
The seven-year veteran, who was originally signed by the Mets in 1990 as a shortstop, is 26-27 overall with seven saves and a 3.70 ERA in 438 big league games with the Expos, Dodgers, Marlins and Indians.
