MLB: Young dominates Pirates again; Greene belts slam for Padres
Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - Khalil Greene hit a grand slam in the eighth inning and Chris Young tossed seven solid innings as San Diego blanked Pittsburgh, 9-0, in the middle contest of a three-game set.
Young (6-3) scattered four hits and a walk while striking out seven for the Padres, who have won four of five. Young is 3-0 with a 0.76 ERA lifetime against the Pirates.
Mike Cameron went 3-for-4 with three RBI for San Diego, while Young helped his own cause with an RBI single in the fifth inning.
Leading 2-0, San Diego blew the game open in the eighth inning. Cameron ripped a two-out RBI single that chased Pirates starter Paul Maholm from the game. Cameron stole second and Jonah Bayliss, in place of Maholm, issued two straight walks -- one intentional -- to load the bases for Greene, who crushed a 2-1 pitch over the center field wall to make it 7-0.
