NHL: Coyotes sign Hanzal
Glendale, AZ (Sports Network) - The Phoenix Coyotes signed center Martin Hanzal to a three-year entry level contract. As per club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Hanzal, 20, was the Coyotes No. 1 pick (17th overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
He played for Red Deer in the Western Hockey League this season and registered 26 goals and 59 assists in 60 games.
The Pisek, Czech Republic native also led all WHL rookies and his team in both scoring and assists.
Also, he tallied two goals and one assist as a member of the Czech Republic team in the 2007 World Junior Championships.
