PGA European: Rose, Broadhurst share lead at Wentworth

Surrey, England (Sports Network) - Justin Rose continued his strong play this season as he opened the BMW PGA Championship with a six-under-par 66 Thursday to share the first-round lead with Paul Broadhurst at Wentworth Club's West Course.
Rose has four top-five finishes in seven worldwide starts during the 2007 season, including a win at the MasterCard Masters. That event was played in November as part of the early portion of the European Tour's 2007 International schedule.
Francesco Molinari, the 2006 Italian Open champion, shares third place at minus-five with Shiv Kapur, Simon Khan and Marcus Fraser.
With 2006 champion David Howell out of action this week due to a back injury, world No. 5 Ernie Els headlines the field. Els has won the HSBC World Match Play Championship six times at Wentworth and last year did some redesign work on the course. He carded an opening-round 68 and is tied for seventh place.
Rose was preparing to start his round as Broadhurst was ending his. Rose opened with a birdie on the second, but dropped a shot at the next. He got back into red figures with a birdie at three.
