PGA Tour: Mickelson withdraws from Memorial
Dublin, OH (Sports Network) - An injury to his left wrist forced Phil Mickelson to withdraw 11 holes into the first round of the Memorial on Thursday.
Mickelson was two-over par through 11 holes at Muirfield when he withdrew. After going birdie-bogey-birdie from No. 3, he made a double-bogey at No. 8 and a bogey at the 11th.
The world No. 2 was playing for the first time since winning the Players Championship three weeks ago.
His withdrawal comes just two weeks before the start of the U.S. Open at Oakmont. Mickelson gave up the lead at the 72nd hole of last year's U.S. Open.
