ATP: Ancic to miss Wimbledon
Wimbledon, England (Sports Network) - Croat Mario Ancic withdrew from Wimbledon 2007 on Thursday, citing a continuing illness.
Ancic, who was slated as the 18th seed at the fortnight, has been sidelined for months with mononucleosis and also missed the recently-concluded French Open.
The 6-foot-5 Ancic was the last man to beat Roger Federer at the All England Club, which he did with a first-round victory back in 2002. The tall Croat reached the Wimbledon semifinals in 2004 and was a quarterfinalist here last season.
