German Soccer: Ribery arrives in Germany

Munich, Germany (Sports Network) - Winger Franck Ribery joined Bayern Munich on Thursday via a four-year contract from Marseille.
The 24-year-old, who also attracted interest from the Premiership, netted 11 goals in 60 appearances since joining the Ligue 1 squad in 2005.
Ribery made a name for himself during the 2006 World Cup with France. Overall, he has tallied 18 caps and two goals for his country.
This was the sixth signing of the offseason for Bayern. On May 30, the club also added Fiorentina striker Luca Toni. Before Toni, the club acquired newly-signed players Hamit Altintop, Jan Schlaudraff, Jose Ernesto Sosa and Marcell Jansen.
Germany failed to secure a place in the Champions League for next season after finishing in fourth in the Bundesliga standings.
