Nascar: Gordon expects to race after birth of child

New York, NY (Sports Network) - Nextel Cup driver Jeff Gordon is expected to be in the driver's seat this weekend after his wife, Ingrid Vandebosh, gave birth to the couple's child on Wednesday.
Ella Sofia Gordon was born at 9:09 a.m. She weighed seven pounds, one ounce and was 20 inches long.
Gordon made the announcement on his Web site, adding that he will participate in all on-track activities for the Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Infineon Raceway this weekend.
"It's been an absolutely incredible experience," Gordon said. "Ingrid came through amazingly and we're both really happy and overjoyed. We can't wait to get home and start our lives together as a family."
Gordon had asked Mark Martin to race in his place had the birth come on the weekend.
