NHL: Senators take 2-1 lead after two periods in Game 1

Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - Wade Redden's power-play goal at the 4:36 mark of the second period gave Ottawa a 2-1 lead over Anaheim, a lead they maintained after 40 minutes of play in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals at Honda Center in Anaheim.
The bulky defenseman ripped a fluttering shot from the point which sailed through traffic in front and hit the net high inside the left post. The goal came at the end of an extended series inside the Ducks' zone which began when Senators defenseman Joe Corvo clanged a shot off the right post, causing Anaheim goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere to lose his stick.
Both teams were credited with 10 shots in the period, with Anaheim holding an 18-14 advantage through two periods.
The Senators seized control early, and took a 1-0 lead only 1:38 into the contest with a power-play goal. With defenseman Scott Niedermayer off for high-sticking, Mike Comrie scored his third of the playoffs by slamming home a loose puck in the crease.
The Ducks took only one shot on goal through the first seven minutes, but evened the game with 9:05 to play as Andy McDonald took a Teemu Selanne feed on a 2-on-1 break and scored his sixth of the playoffs with a blistering wrister under the crossbar.
