Soccer Italy: Juventus headed back to Serie A
Milan, Italy (Sports Network) - Juventus' stay in Serie B will only last one season.
Demoted to Italy's Serie B last year because of a match-fixing scandal, the Italian power sits atop the second flight with three games remaining and has already assured itself of returning to Serie A next year.
Juventus earned the key victory on Saturday by topping Arezzo, 5-1. Juventus has won seven Serie A championships since 1995, although the scandal stripped its titles from 2005 and 2006.
Juventus was easily the top team in Serie B this year, but it had to overcome a nine-point deduction as an additional penalty for the match-fixing scandal. The penalty was originally 30 points, but two appeals brought it down to 17 and finally nine.
Juventus (27-2-10) has 82 points this season, leading Serie B with 79 goals scored and just 26 allowed. The club is undefeated at home this season, with wins in 16 of 19 matches.
